Your birth chart

Free Vedic Birth Chart
by Date of Birth & Time

Traditionally called a janam kundli — the sky at the moment you arrived.

A kundli is not a horoscope column. It is a precise map of nine grahas across twelve houses, calculated from your date, time and place of birth — and read as a description of tendencies, not a sentence passed on you.

What gets calculated

What your free janam kundali includes

Every section of the kundli calculator below is computed, not written — and each one feeds the interpretation rather than decorating it.

Sun through Ketu with sign, house, degree, dignity and retrogression — the raw material every other reading draws on.

Nakshatra

Your birth star, its ruling planet and pada, which is what fixes your dasha sequence and much of your temperament.

Navamsa (D9)

The divisional chart traditionally read for marriage, dharma and the deeper strength of a planet beyond its Rasi position.

Lagna Chart (D1)

The birth chart itself — life as it is actually lived. The diamond is fixed: house 1 is always the top-centre box and the numbers run anti-clockwise from it. Each box holds the grahas sitting in that house, so a house with nothing in it is read through its lord instead.

  • Your lagna is Leo, so that sign occupies the 1st house and every other house follows from it.
  • Occupied houses: 4th (home and mother) — Rahu; 5th (children and learning) — Jupiter; 7th (marriage and partners) — Saturn; 9th (fortune and father) — Sun, Mercury; 10th (career and standing) — Moon, Ketu; 11th (gains and friendships) — Venus; 12th (loss and release) — Mars.
  • Saturn is retrograde.
  • Rahu is retrograde.
  • Ketu is retrograde.

Where the nine grahas actually sat, in the North Indian diamond. House numbers stay fixed; the signs rotate around your Lagna.

Rasi and Navamsa, drawn properly

Your Rasi chart shows where the grahas actually sat. The Navamsa divides each sign into nine parts and is read for marriage, dharma and whether a planet is stronger or weaker than its Rasi position suggests.

Both are drawn in the North Indian diamond style, with every placement labelled — no decoding a diagram you were never taught to read.

Why the D9 changes the reading

A planet can look strong in the Rasi chart and weak in the Navamsa, or the reverse. Tradition treats the D9 as the deeper truth of a planet's condition — which is why a reading that skips it can be confidently wrong.

Arivyah computes both and reads them against each other rather than presenting the D9 as a curiosity.

The dasha timeline

Vimshottari dasha divides 120 years into planetary periods, each with a distinct character. Knowing you entered a Saturn mahadasha four years ago often explains a stretch that felt heavy for no visible reason.

You get the whole sequence with dates, plus the antardasha inside your current period — the sub-cycle that usually accounts for the texture of a given year.

Dasha is read alongside what the sky is doing now: see your current transits and Sade Sati.

Questions

About your chart

Why is my sign different from what I thought?add

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which accounts for the precession of the equinoxes. Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac. The two have drifted about 24 degrees apart, so your Vedic sun sign is usually the one before your Western one. Both are internally consistent — they're measuring from different starting points.

How exact does my birth time need to be?add

Within a few minutes is ideal. The Lagna changes roughly every two hours, so an hour's error can shift your entire house structure. Moon sign, nakshatra and dasha are far more forgiving. If you're unsure, generate the chart anyway and treat house-specific detail as provisional.

What if I only know the date?add

Arivyah defaults to noon. Your Moon sign, nakshatra and dasha timeline will usually still be right, and those carry a lot of the reading. The Lagna and house placements won't be reliable, and the report won't pretend otherwise.

Can I save more than one chart?add

Yes, as many as you like, each labelled by relationship — yourself, a partner, a child, a parent. Compatibility matching then works across any two of them.

Do I get a PDF?add

Yes. The full interpretation, charts, dasha timeline and dosha analysis export as a PDF you can keep or take to an astrologer for a second reading.
